According to the ITU’s latest mobile statsistics there are now 76.2 mobile subscriptions/100 people  (4.4 times the number of fixed telephone lines).

Developing nations and specifically APAC are noted as the area driving this signficant growth.

The data also highlights the diminishing divide between developed and developing nations, in terms of internet access.

From a media perspective a notable stat is that 18% (940 million) of these 5.3 billion mobile subscribers are able to access the internet from their phones.
